Your Questions

What facilities will I find on my holiday?

All our boats have heating, duvets, pillows, towels and a colour TV, DVD, CD player and radio. In addition kitchen and bathroom welcome packs are provided for use on your holiday.

Full details can be found on each individual boat's page.

We can't book the weather but you can check it here in advance of your holiday

Advice on where to moor, eat, shop and places to visit are provided in the onboard information.Training our Guests on Lock Operation

Is boat handling training provided?

Absolutely. Our Boat Handover Procedure is Quality Assured by the British Marine Federation (click the tick for details)

You will be shown your boat, we will explain how it works and tell you about the daily checks to be made.

You then set off, accompanied by our instructor.

At your first lock, we show you what to do, and then help you through two more.

We ask you to sign a Handover Certificate to confirm that you're happy with our briefing.

Additionally, we provide onboard reference aids and a copy of the Boaters' Handbook. The Boaters' Handbook is useful pre-holiday reading.

We are contactable 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the unlikely event of an emergency.

Do you supply buoyancy aids?

We do. Sizing will be finalised within 7 days of your holiday commencement date.

Canal Boat Escapes provide bouyancy aids

Where can we go?

From our marinas at Barnoldswick and Catforth there are some lovely routes

The only restriction is that our boats cannot be taken on tidal waterways without prior written agreement.

We have compiled a selection of Suggested Routes.

Can I bring electronic gadgets?

There is a 12v cigarette lighter style socket on board suitable for charging mobile phones, cameras and camcorders on Strumble.

Grace, Rosa-May, Isabel, Green Man, Eleanor Rose and Florence have 240v and household electrical plugs can be used (please don't bring anything over 500 watts).

Can I cruise at night?

No. It is not safe and would render the insurance invalid should you have an accident. Please moor up by dusk.

What time can I collect my boat?

Your boat will be ready from 2pm and should be returned by 9am on your day of departure.

Are there speed limits?

The guidance for canals is 3 miles per hour (walking speed) but you should slow down when passing moored boats.

Can we bring pets?

Isabel, Green Man, Eleanor Rose, Rosa-May and Florence are pet friendly boats and there is no extra charge for up to 2 furry friends. All we ask is that you bring your own bedding and covers, and refrain from allowing your pets on the seats or beds.

Grace and Strumble are pet free boats.

What if I need to cancel my holiday?

Our terms and conditions detail our cancellation policy. To give you peace of mind we do operate a cancellation cover scheme in association with PJ Hayman insurance.

How do I make a booking?

You can use either our online booking service or give us a call on 01282 813097 and we will take your booking over the telephone. If you book over the phone we will ask you to print and mail/fax us a copy of our Booking Form to comply with our insurance requirements.

We recommend downloading the Boater's Handbook for further reference. A copy is also provided on board.

Additionally, an excellent resource launched this year is Considerate Boater.
